The Conservative MP for Tonbridge, Tom Tugendhat, has accused mobile and broadband operators EE, O2 and Vodafone (Vodafone and Three UK) of delivering mobile signals in parts of London that are “worse” than he got in Kabul ten years ago and of operating a “near monopoly“, which he said meant they had “no incentive to improve“.

The SIM-Only mobile operator Spusu, which holds a virtual operator (MVNO) agreement to harness EE’s 4G and 5G (mobile broadband) network, has today celebrated their third birthday since launch in the UK by gifting existing customers an extra 5GB (GigaBytes) of data for free until 30th June 2026.

Good news. After years of waiting, broadband and mobile provider EE (BT) has finally made it easier for online customers on their top fastest 1.Gbps speed full fibre package, which is supplied via Openreach’s national Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network, to bundle it with the provider’s Pay TV products.

Transport for London (TfL) and Boldyn Networks have published a progress update for their roll-out of 4G and 5G mobile (mobile broadband) coverage on the London Underground, which reveals that more sections of the Bakerloo, Metropolitan and Circle line are now live. The project is currently on target to complete by the end of 2026.

Communications and broadband provider BT Business has today announced the launch of a new “prioritisation capability” delivered over EE’s commercial mobile network. The new feature, called Mission Boost ™, enables organisations in “critical sectors” to access prioritised 4G and 5G connectivity during periods of congestion or high demand.

Residents in the two Essex (England) villages of Langham and Dedham, which are both home to around 3,000 people, have been left to suffer from poor to non-existent mobile connectivity after a local mobile mast at Gun Hill (Ipswich Road) was removed last month without the local authority approving a replacement site.

But the feedback appears to suggest that it might not be impacting every service, subscriber or platform in the same way.

The UK telecoms regulator, Ofcom, has today published a new study that measured mobile (4G / 5G) network performance across 24 segments of key railway lines covering England, Scotland and Wales. The results found that performance was poor on between 58% and 83% of tests carried out on trains, depending on mobile operator.

The UK telecoms regulator, Ofcom, has today revealed that one million people have now used their upgraded Map Your Mobile Postcode Checker since it launched a year ago (here). The service was enhanced to better match people’s real-world experiences of 4G and 5G (mobile broadband) performance and signal strength across EE, Three UK, Vodafone and O2.

Network analyst firm Streetwave has today published the results from a new study they conducted, which examined mobile network (4G, 5G) coverage and mobile broadband performance across part of the River Thames (Putney Pier to Westminster Pier) in London, while travelling onboard an Uber Boat (Thames Clippers). Vodafone came out on top.

The BT Group has published their H2 FY26 biannual results, which saw total half year revenues of £9,840m (up from £9,806m in H1) and another quarterly UK decline in Openreach’s broadband lines of -203k (down from -210k in Q3 FY26) – full year losses totalled 825k. But the network operator still grew their full fibre (FTTP) coverage by 2.608 million premises in H2 (vs 2.23m in H1) to total 23m.

Broadband and telecoms giant BT has today gone live with their revived BT Mobile service, which among other things confirms that the details we uncovered on Monday were correct (here). All the plans feature basic 30-day rolling SIM Only contracts with capped data allowances and are exclusively for the provider’s own broadband customers.

Google and Apple recently began bringing cross-platform end-to-end encryption to Rich Communication Services (RCS), which is a data-only messaging service that’s intended to replace traditional SMS text messaging (you need a mobile internet / broadband connection for it to work). But it’s not yet fully available from all UK mobile operators.

Mobile and broadband provider Vodafone (VodafoneThree) has today confirmed to ISPreview that they’ve finally deployed and activated a new mobile mast to help fix the problems in the Pembrokeshire (Wales) seaside town of Tenby (here). Locals have been suffering from months of poor signal since the old mast suddenly vanished at the start of 2026.
