Broadband ISP WightFibre, which operates a gigabit speed Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network across the Isle of Wight – just off the South Coast of Hampshire in England, has begun to notify existing customers of their latest annual price increase that is due to be implemented from 1st April 2024.

Network access provider Openreach has announced that they’ve started their rollout of a new Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP network in the town of Dover (Kent). Separately, they’ve also issued a progress update on their £4.5m project to deploy the same network on the Isle of Wight (just off the south coast of Hampshire).

Rural broadband ISP Wessex Internet has today announced that they’ve entered the roll-out phase of their £14m state aid supported Project Gigabit broadband contract for the New Forest area (Lot 27.01) of Hampshire (England), which will see them extend a full fibre (FTTP) network to “around” 10,500 hard-to-reach premises.

Hampshire UK’s Rural Superfast Broadband Project Concludes

The Hampshire County Council (HCC) in England has concluded its state aid supported Superfast Broadband Programme (SFBB) and published a new report that summarises its “achievements and lessons learnt“. Overall, the project helped to extend superfast (30Mbps+) speeds from 80% in 2012 to 97.8% today, exceeding its 95% target.

CityFibre has announced that they’ve awarded their “first round of contracts” to civil engineering firms under their state-aid supported Project Gigabit broadband rollout contracts in Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Hampshire and Suffolk. Artists Emma and Hollie of Community Murals have continued their efforts to tackle graffiti on the Isle of Wight, not least by working with councils and broadband ISP WightFibre to paint more of the operator’s full fibre street cabinets with attractive murals. The latest ones can be found in parts of Newport, such as the bus station.
