BT has today won four years’ worth of exclusive live TV broadcasting rights for Aviva Premiership Rugby and the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Sevens from the 2013-14 season, which will be shown over its broadband IPTV service (BTVision) and could be seen as yet another challenge to Sky (Sky Broadband) and ESPN’s dominance of TV sport.

BT has today launched a new offer that effectively includes its BTVision TV (IPTV) service for free alongside their broadband and calls bundle. The package, which would usually cost £17 a month, is for a limited time being reduced to just £13 (i.e. the £4 Vision Essentials element becomes free).

The CEO of UK budget broadband and phone provider TalkTalk, Dido Harding, has admitted that two years ago the ISP was letting its customers down while going through a post-Tiscali acquisition period of being “unconsciously incompetent“. But all is well, now that they’ve become “much more consciously incompetent” instead.
