Internet provider PlusNet Business has today reduced the price of their ‘up to’ 18Mbps unlimited broadband package to £3.50 +vat per month for the first 12 month contract (£15 thereafter), but you still need to pay £12.50 per month for line rental on top or £10.50 on a 24 month term.

The latest annual UK Home Broadband Genie 2015 survey has announced that Virgin Media came out top as the overall “Best Broadband Provider“, although Sky Broadband and PlusNet also managed to pick up a few awards in different categories. Sadly TalkTalk often found itself at the bottom of the pack.

The annual uSwitch.com Broadband Awards 2015 were held last night and suffice to say that two ISPs dominated the evening more than most, Virgin Media and Plusnet. Both providers managed to sweep a bunch of gongs in different categories, although Virgin clearly picked up the most.

Plusnet has launched a new offer on their ‘up to’ 38Mbps Unlimited Fibre (FTTC) broadband package, which gives new subscribers 6 months of free service (£14.99 a month thereafter). As usual you also have to take the ISPs Phone Line Rental from £16.99 per month or the monthly equivalent of £15.49 when pre-paid for a year.

22nd January, 2016 (5 Comments)

UK ISP PlusNet Business has today slashed the cost of their ‘up to’ 18Mbps capable unlimited broadband package by offering it at just £5 +vat per month for the first 24 months of service (£13 thereafter), which must of course be bundled with Line Rental from £10.50 a month.

Internet provider Plusnet has kicked off the New Year by offering their ‘up to’ 17Mbps unlimited broadband package absolutely free for the first 12 months of service (£9.99 per month thereafter) to new subscribers and on top of that they’re also offering £50 Cashback.

7th January, 2016 (9 Comments)

Budget ISP PlusNet has quietly begun swapping from a ‘Shared’ to ‘Dedicated’ Wholesale Broadband Managed Connect (WBMC) platform via BTWholesale, which is a logical choice given their growing customer base and should afford them more direct control over network capacity / infrastructure.

What’s more important, service quality or price? If only it were that simple. Choosing the right broadband ISP is never easy, not least because service performance and cost can vary due to a variety of often very muddy factors, but hopefully our annual editors pick might help to simplify the options.

The telecoms regulator has today published their latest Q3 2015 complaints report, which reveals the volume of gripes received for all of the United Kingdom’s largest broadband, phone, mobile and TV providers. As usual EE takes a beating, while Sky Broadband and Virgin Media win praise.

2nd December, 2015 (2 Comments)

A new report from security consultant Paul Moore has revealed that many of the United Kingdom’s major broadband ISPs, including BT, PlusNet, EE, Virgin Media, Sky Broadband and TalkTalk, have significant vulnerabilities in their systems that could be exploited by hackers. But some, such as EE and TalkTalk, did far worse than others.
