Comparison site Simplifydigital.co.uk has today unveiled the winners of their 2015 Customer Choice Awards, which saw most of the big broadband ISPs (except BT and EE) pickup wins across several broadband, phone and TV categories based on their levels of satisfaction. But sadly you won’t find any smaller ISPs listed.

Sheffield-based ISP PlusNet has announced that “Unlimited Fibre” (FTTC) broadband and phone customers who also take their £5 per month YouView (IPTV) based TV service will, from 5th August 2015, also benefit from the inclusion of the BTSport Lite content at no extra cost.

ISP PlusNet, perhaps keen to put the recent spate of bad publicity behind it, has introduced another discount by offering their ‘Unlimited Fibre Broadband and Calls‘ (up to 38Mbps FTTC) package free for the first 6 months of service (£14.99 a month thereafter). Line rental must also be taken from the equivalent of £12.99 a month pre-paid.

Low cost ISP PlusNet appears to have quietly begun offering 12 months of free unlimited broadband service and weekend calls (£9.99 per month thereafter), which could be seen as a move to balance against a similar promotion from Sky Broadband that surfaced just before the weekend.

Customers of PlusNet who also take the ISPs BTSport TV offer (only available via the Sky Digital TV platform), which gives them access to BTSport channels 1, 2 and ESPN from just £5.99 per month (HD for an extra £1.50 a month), may be unhappy to learn that the price is set to almost double.

The communications regulator has today published their latest Q1-2015 consumer complaints report, which saw overall complaint volumes continue to fall across most of the major UK mobile, pay tv, fixed line phone and broadband sectors. But the news isn’t so good for EE, which has seen gripes surge.

Low cost Internet provider PlusNet has announced that a raft of new price rises and hikes will hit customers of their fixed line phone and calling services from 2nd September 2015, with both standard line rental and annual pre-paid line rental saver services seeing some of the biggest increases.

Broadband and phone providers PlusNet, Virgin Media and the Post Office have come top of a new survey of customer service quality, which questioned some 14,000 respondents about their experiences. Sadly TalkTalk / AOL and EE could all be found at the lowest rated end of the scale.

One of PlusNet’s most attractive features over the years has been its ability to offer around the clock customer support via United Kingdom based call centres, but no longer.

18th June, 2015 (11 Comments)

Consumer magazine Which? has published a new report that attacks some of the biggest broadband ISPs, particularly BT, TalkTalk and PlusNet, for allegedly continuing to promote Internet download speeds that the majority of their customers will never be able to achieve. But are tougher advertising rules the best fix?

New customers who sign-up to PlusNet’s superfast broadband (FTTC) capable packages should note that the operator has reduced some of their standard prices for the first 6 months of service and, much more strangely, dropped the upload speed of their “Unlimited Fibre” option from 19.5Mbps to just 2Mbps.

UK ISP PlusNet has once again moved to take advantage of the looming bank holiday weekend by offering their standard ‘up to’ 17Mbps unlimited broadband and included weekend calls package free for the first 12 months of service (normally £9.99 per month) with £75 Cashback, which is available to order until 26th May 2015.

The communications regulator has today published their latest quarterly consumer complaints report to the end of 2014 and unsurprisingly, despite a general flatness in complaint volumes, there are still some familiar names topping the tables. We’re looking at you EE (fixed broadband and phone), Vodafone (mobile) and BT (Pay TV).

Budget ISP PlusNet seems to be in the news a lot this week and today is no exception with the broadband provider recently announcing that, over the next year and a half, it would create an additional 200 jobs in Yorkshire (England). Eeh by gum.
