Consumer magazine Which? has today published the results of their latest Q1 2015 reader survey of broadband ISP satisfaction, which found that customers of John Lewis’s broadband division and Zen Internet were the most satisfied with their service. Meanwhile all of the biggest ISPs could be found languishing at the bottom.

The telecoms regulator has today published their latest Q1-2015 report into the real-world performance of the largest fixed line broadband ISPs and their customers across the United Kingdom, which found that the average download speed has increased by 21.93% over the past six months to top 22.8Mbps (NOTE: Most of this boost came from urban areas, with rural and suburban being fairly flat).

UK ISP PlusNet has apologised after its automated data usage monitoring system suddenly lost the plot and began applying incorrect usage levels to some of the provider’s broadband customers on older capped usage accounts, which triggered a mass of email warnings about excessive usage.

Budget Internet provider PlusNet must correct their definition for “Low Cost” areas, which directly impacts the price that subscribers pay, after ISPreview.co.uk readers noted that the details on their website appeared to have been out of date since 26th June 2014 when Ofcom changed the regulation.

Internet provider PlusNet Business has today reduced the cost of their top ‘up to’ 76Mbps capable (19.5Mbps upload) ‘Unlimited Business Fibre Broadband and Phone’ package from £33 +vat per month to just £12.99 per month for the first 12 months of service.

MoneySuperMarket.com has today announced the winners of their Broadband Supers 2015 Awards, which much like last week’s uSwitch event saw almost all of the big broadband ISPs walk away with at least one award from a selection of several categories. Generally PlusNet appeared to do the best after it picked up three awards for Best Value Broadband, Best for Quality and Reliability and Best for Customer Service.

The annual uSwitch.com Broadband Awards 2015, which took place last night at The Gherkin in London, have unveiled a variety of winners across multiple categories for broadband, TV, phone and mobile services. Top among the winners was Virgin Media, which took three awards for Best Customer Rated Broadband, Fastest Broadband and Best Broadband Provider.

Low cost ISP PlusNet appears to have quietly introduced a new wireless broadband router for their new customers in the United Kingdom, which is called the Hub Zero (Sagemcom 2704n) and curiously does not come with an integrated VDSL modem for superfast FTTC broadband lines (i.e. you still need to use Openreach’s supplied VDSL modem via a managed install).

ISPreview.co.uk takes a look back at how the top fastest and largest national Mobile Broadband (3G/4G) and Home Broadband providers have performed over the last quarter. Overall Virgin Media still tops the fixed line table with an average Internet download speed of 53.20Mbps (unchanged from Q3 2014), while Vodafone delivered the best mobile performance at 13.78Mbps.

Low cost ISP PlusNet has decided to launch some new year discounts early by cutting the price of their top two “Unlimited Fibre” (FTTC) superfast broadband packages, which now start at just £3.75 per month for speeds of ‘up to’ 38Mbps and £8.75 per month for their 76Mbps service (first six months).

Budget ISP PlusNet has become the latest provider to tout Black Friday discounts as the reason for slashing the cost of their unlimited standard (ADSL2+) home broadband service, which is now free for the first 12 months of service (£9.99 thereafter) when taken with line rental from £12.99 per month (i.e. when pre-paid for a year in advance or £15.95 as standard) plus £75 Cashback.

Internet provider PlusNet has tweaked their existing unlimited home broadband (up to 17Mbps) and phone package, which can now be taken for either £2.50 per month for the first 12 months of service (12 month contract) or £1.50 per month if you take out a slightly longer 18 month contract (plus line rental from £12.99). On top of that there’s also £70 cashback.
