The communications regulator has today published their latest Q1-2015 consumer complaints report, which saw overall complaint volumes continue to fall across most of the major UK mobile, pay tv, fixed line phone and broadband sectors. But the news isn’t so good for EE, which has seen gripes surge.

Low cost Internet provider PlusNet has announced that a raft of new price rises and hikes will hit customers of their fixed line phone and calling services from 2nd September 2015, with both standard line rental and annual pre-paid line rental saver services seeing some of the biggest increases.

New customers who sign-up to PlusNet’s superfast broadband (FTTC) capable packages should note that the operator has reduced some of their standard prices for the first 6 months of service and, much more strangely, dropped the upload speed of their “Unlimited Fibre” option from 19.5Mbps to just 2Mbps.

Budget ISP PlusNet has launched a new promotion on their ‘up to’ 17Mbps unlimited broadband and free UK weekend calls package, which between 1st and 5th May 2015 will be offered completely free for the first 12 months of service to new customers (£9.99 per month thereafter) with £75 cashback.

The results from the annual Broadband Genie 2015 survey have been announced, which saw PlusNet come top in four of the five survey categories (overall satisfaction score of 76%) to secure the Best Broadband Provider award. But Virgin Media (75%) and Sky Broadband (73%) weren’t far behind.

The latest survey of 2,725 ISPreview.co.uk readers has found that the quality of the router that big broadband ISPs bundle with their Internet access packages does have an impact on whether consumers choose a particular provider, with 36.9% saying it was important to their choice. But most would also like more choice.
