ISP TalkTalk UK Drops Sky TV Sports and Cinema Boosts UPDATE

Low cost broadband ISP TalkTalk has today refreshed some of their packages and also appear to have stopped selling the Sky Sports and Sky Cinema boosts to customers via their YouView (IPTV) based Pay TV platform, which previously cost £18 and £36 extra per month respectively to add.

Broadband ISP TalkTalk UK has revealed that the release of the Season 3 update for online video game Fortnite on 17th June 2020, as well as the combined return of the Premier League (Football), sent internet traffic over their network to its “second highest peak … this year” of 6.12Tbps (Terabits per second).

Broadband ISP TalkTalk UK has informed ISPreview.co.uk that they intend to start offering ultrafast Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) packages via Openreach’s national network from July 2020, which follows a limited six month long customer trial that began last December 2019.

Cityfibre’s civil engineering teams have now started to build a new £20m 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) based broadband ISP network in the city of Inverness (Scotland). Some of the first to benefit are expected to be in the Balloch, Culloden, Smithton, Resaurie, Westhill, Raigmore and Crown areas.

ISP TalkTalk See Broadband Base Shrink to 4.22m as Fibre Grows

UK ISP TalkTalk has today reported their latest trading update to 31st March 2020 (FY20 financial), which saw their on-net fixed broadband base decline from 4.289 million last year to 4.22m now. On the bright side their fibre (FTTC/P) base increased by 605,000 (net adds) in the year to account for 2.37m of the total.

Cityfibre has today announced a major recruitment and training drive, which over the next 3 years will see them create 10,000 jobs (engineers etc.). Ofcom has published their latest Q4 2019 consumer complaints data, which reveals that UK ISP Vodafone attracted the most gripes for broadband, while Plusnet were the worst for landline phone and Virgin Media sat on the naughty step for Pay TV. On the flip side Sky (Sky Broadband, Sky TV) attracted the fewest moans from consumers.
