The government’s Minister for Competitiveness, Stephen Timms, has reiterated the need for faster next generation broadband services.

Speaking at the 2007 Parliament and the Internet Conference, held at Portcullis House in the House of Commons yesterday, Timm's said:


The current UK market is very competitive but Timms noted that newer applications are slowly beginning to potentially change that dynamic (e.g. richer content, HD IPTV etc.), hinting at a need to take action sooner rather than later. Ofcom has already begun a consultation to find the best way forward.
