Broadband figures weren't the only things coming out of yesterdays BT results, they also reported having subscribed just 60,000 customers to their IPTV (BT Vision) service (expected to hit 100,000 by the end of December 2007).
Naturally that's a far cry from the "
hundreds of thousands by the end of 2007", which BT had originally predicted, although they apparently meant the end of their financial year (31st January 2008):
By our reckoning, at the end of October there were 13 weeks until 31 January 2008. Now, assuming BT maintains 6,000 sign-ups per week over Christmas, that makes another 78,000 customers before the end of financial year 2007. 78,000 plus 60,000 equals, er, 138,000.
Correct us if we're wrong, but 138,000 is not "hundreds of thousands". BT's spokesman said we are wrong. "It is," he carefully explained.
