From the 1st August05 ISP AOL UK is to start charging its users up to 7.5p per minute for any calls made to its customer or technical support help lines.
Previously voice line customer support had been done via a free 0800 number, which was seen as one of the ISP's key selling points. Interestingly users of the providers new AOL Talk phone service will still be able to gain support for free.
Typically AOL UK has boasted about wanting to improve its support and despite the change, they're still cheaper than a lot of providers. Many can charge up to 50p or even £1 per minute.
