Ofcom is reportedly investigating the possibility of introducing a form of Internet classification, which would be aimed at warning surfers about offensive or adult content:
The move would see the UK become one of the first countries to offer a standard industry-wide classification system. A similar scheme is already running in the Netherlands. However, there are some difficult hurdles the watchdog will have to overcome to get the scheme up and running.
The plan will require the agreement of UK ISPs, telecom firms and media groups. Ofcom has said that the BBC, Scottish Media Group, and the Community Channel have all expressed their support for the scheme.The
