Vaioni's 40Mbps Bonded ADSL/SDSL

Posted: 08th Apr, 2005 By: MarkJ
Following 3 years in development the little known Vaioni Group has finally announced the launch of their bonded broadband ADSL and SDSL products into the reseller market:

Following experience as Channel Manager at Zen Internet (4 years), Ian Taylor, now Channel Manager at Vaioni Group, is looking to work with partners taking the product out to market.

“Bonded Broadband is an exciting opportunity for any telecoms or networking company, looking to provide their customers the next level of internet connectivity. By bonding multiple connections together, many customer requirements can be fulfilled.”

Bonded broadband can combine 2, 4 or 6 or unlimited ADSL or SDSL lines, presenting very high bandwidth to a client’s network. Vaioni’s typical installation with a Partner is 8 or 10 lines, although a simple 2 line package is popular too, providing double the upload of standard ADSL. By utilising the full range of ADSL broadband services available, a range of packages are available from Vaioni, covering upload and download speed requirements.

Vaioni have invested heavily in their data centre to support this service, ensuring true bonding at a business class. Every bonded connection is presented to the network as stand alone, with a range of Static IP addresses (Vaioni are RIPE members). The bonding is not load balancing or prioritisation, it provides a true standalone connection to the network in the style of a single fat pipe, but with at least double the speed. The bonding can provide VPN pass through and has none of the technical issues involved with competing technologies as experienced with load balancing.

Resilience of the bonded connection is superior to stand alone connections such single ADSL / SDSL lines. The bonding product is inherently resilient as it uses multiple lines and can failover between them, should there be interruption. The bonding product can also failover to non BT technologies such as Satellite, NTL and any other providers with “last mile” delivery.

Vaioni’s product is cost effective across the whole range, from the entry level bonded ADSL, to the bonded SDSL and high levels of bandwidth delivery up to 40Mbps download. Due to its supplier independence, connections can be added and removed as new technologies become available, such as ADSL2, ADSL2+ and others.

Formed in 2001 Vaioni Group Limited has been deploying innovative telecoms solutions to specific vertical markets. Vaioni currently provide internet services to over 6000 users.

Bonding is nothing new and Easynet has been using it to provide faster ADSL services for a couple of years, although we'd expect a 40Mbps product to be rather expensive.
