Despite many attempts to contact Aramiska, we have so far been unable to get any kind of response. Indications from one former employee are that they were also taken by surprise.
In the meantime, several other ISP's have offered to assist Aramiska customers with special service promotions, although all of these are ADSL offers (many chose Aramiska because they were out of fixed-broadband's reach!).
The Vaioni Group has at least come up with an idea for those that are covered by ADSL, but chose Aramiska because the downstream speed on their fixed-line would have been too slow:

Vaioni Group Limited sympathises with all customers that have been left without internet service, due to the recent closure of the satellite broadband ISP Aramiska. Vaioni are happy to announce, that through the utilisation of its bonding technology, there is an option for customers that are a significant distance from their DSL enabled exchange and are left stranded for connectivity by the closure of Aramiska.
Ian Taylor, Channel Manager at Vaioni Group, is heading up the campaign.
Today our company got approached by an Aramiska customer desperate to move away and find a business class alternative. As a result of the customer being a significant distance from their DSL enabled exchange, they were restricted as to the speed of ADSL broadband they could get, so they felt their only option was satellite broadband. The customer at the time did not realise they could approach Vaioni to cost effectively bond a number of traditional, smaller speed ADSL lines together, to get the high speed bandwidth required. Benefiting from Vaionis proven bonded DSL technology and the resilience of multiple lines, the fat pipe connection the customer is now interested in will support their hundreds of users effectively.
In order to support all ex-Aramiska customers, Vaioni have put in place a special pricing and provisioning scheme. The scheme allows customers to switch over to a reliable bonded connection, in the fastest possible way, with the minimum of capital outlay. Vaioni will also offer a discount on the standard pricing, to all ex-Aramiska customers moving to Vaionis bonded solution.
To support customers not requiring bonded lines, Vaioni will also support this campaign by providing the first 3 months free to stranded ex-Aramiska customers, requiring stand alone business class broadband ADSL connections up to 2Mbps. Options to bond the lines later are available.
By utilising the full range of broadband services, Vaioni, is able to meet a broad spectrum of bandwidth requirements for customers.
Vaionis Bonded Broadband product is cost effective across the whole range, with speed delivery up to 40Mbps, bonding 256Kbps ADSL and above. Due to supplier independence, connections can be added and removed as new technologies, such as ADSL2, ADSL2+ and others become available.

The Community Broadband Network (CBN) is also working to gather information on alternative satellite broadband providers for those outside of ADSL's reach. You can read the news update on their front page
HERE.
ISPr will continue our efforts to collect any information and report it to readers. It may also be worth checking out our broadband section, especially the satellite ISPs list.
However given the problems with Silvermead (news below this piece), we are worried that some issues may potentially be connected and could impact other providers.
