Two readers have reported that a second broadband satellite ISP,
Silvermead, may also be in trouble. The service apparently became unresponsive last Friday and remains so today, with phones, e-mail and even the website seeming to be offline.
There are some interesting parallels between the Silvermead situation and Aramiska's. However no communication has come from Silvermead regarding why their service has so suddenly vanished.
We note that Aramiska uses Eutelsat (Atlantic Bird 2), while Silvermead operates via Astra, two different satellite networks. Details are scarce, while customers grow increasingly worried.
Satellite may be historically terrible at the consumer level, but for some it is the only option. More details when we have them.
