The latest research from Enpocket points out how micro-websites designed for mobile phones (WAP) remain popular, with roughly one third of all mobile users accessing them. Some 38% of men use the service versus a comparative 26% of women.
The survey highlights ringtone websites as being one of the chief reasons for WAP's continued popularity. Typically such usage is mostly from the younger age groups, with 61% of 18-24 year olds having recently visited a mobile website (50% for 25-34).
Other areas of interest for mobile phone surfers, in order, were news, games, sports, entertainment, weather and finally adult sites.
