Mozilla's free Firefox website browser has been criticised by security firm Symantec. The group highlights an increase in vulnerabilities, 47, compared to 38 in Microsoft's Internet Explorer (January to June 2006):
With vulnerabilities affecting web browsers on the rise and accounting now for 69% of all vulnerabilities, security experts advise computer users make sure they always install the latest upgrades.
Still, according to Symantec, Internet Explorer was the most frequently targeted web browser, accounting for 47% of all browser attacks while Firefox was the browser targeted by the third highest number of attacks.
The
Web-User item shows that while Firefox may have the most vulnerabilities, it's still IE that everybody attacks. Never the less the news is not good and may give Microsoft's forthcoming IE7 an extra boost.
