For those that dont follow the forum, ISPreview will soon look very different. Ive attempted to redesign the site multiple times over the past few years and have never been able to find a totally acceptable layout, until now.
During June06 I came up with a tangible concept, which is fresh, puts right the problems of the past (odd mixed fonts and text sizes etc.), yet retains our focus on ease of navigation and speed while improving display and readability. Over the last four weeks this work has finally come together, with ISPr v2 now taking shape at a rapid pace.
We had hoped to introduce the new content management system (news, articles and reviews) with it, although development has gone slower than expected, hence existing systems will instead be updated to fit. Meanwhile the new site itself is more or less complete.
Initially I had hoped to just do a new front page and header/footer for the sub-sections, yet since then the project has been expanded to include a slightly more rigorous re-design of many sub-sections. This has now become quite a large and time consuming project, forcing major ISP listing updates and other things we had planned to be delayed.
On the bright side Im hoping to have ISPreview v2 done and subsequently launched before the end of October this year. For now the new site will remain largely under wraps as a surprise, although it bares little resemblance to the current layout and has been well received privately.
Keep your eyes open, its going to be quite a change =).
