UK ISP Fusion Media Networks (FMN) claims to have bridged the gap between Leased Lines, SDSL and ADSL broadband products with the launch of its new VitaDSL service.
Running at a synchronous (both directions) speed of 512Kbps (can be upscale to 2Mbps), VitaDSL offers a guaranteed 1:1 contention and unlike SDSL it's available to 98% of UK exchanges! Typically it's not cheap:
Fusion Media Networks Ltd (FMN), one of the UKs leading suppliers of both BT and LLU SDSL services to business, today announces the launch of Vita, a new DSL service specifically designed for organisations which require synchronous 1:1 contention but do not have SDSL availability at the local exchange.
Although SDSL continues to roll out across the country on LLU platforms, the majority of rural and non-metro exchanges still only offer standard broadband services.
For more remote businesses, schools and other organisations, the only way to achieve synchronous, uncontended connectivity has traditionally been to purchase expensive leased lines or take on newer, unproven technologies such as satellite services.
Based on Datastream Technology, Vita delivers speeds from 512Kb/512Kb at guaranteed 1:1 contention and is easily scalable up to 2Mb synchronous if required, with prices starting from £175 plus VAT per month.
Vita allows remote sites to cost-effectively stream network data, video-conference or use VoIP applications on an unshared connection and is an ideal product for IP and MPLS VPNs.
For the entry level service, setup and equipment is provided free of charge.

FMN Vita DSL is available at 98% of UK exchanges and pricing starts from £175 plus VAT per month with free setup.
We cant help but wonder how its able to circumvent the usual problems inherent with such technology, such as speed degradation. Then again the only guarantee appears to be the contention.
