Ofcom has released its latest quarterly Telecommunications Market Data Tables, which includes a breakdown of total residential and small business broadband connections to Q4-2006.
In total the UK had 12,993,000 such connections, which come from the following technologies:
BT Retail (xDSL) - 3,101,000
Other xDSL (exc.
LLU) - 5,530,000
Cable Modem (Virgin etc.) - 3,059,000
Other (inc.
LLU) - 1,304,000
BT's overall broadband connections market share has risen from 23.5% during Q3-2006 to 23.9% in Q4-2006. xDSL typically references Digital Subscriber Line technologies, such as ADSL and SDSL etc.
