Pipex has today become the latest ISP to stick their support behind a Football Club, this time it's Fulham. The provider will use the deal to promote its various broadband services:
Fulham FC is celebrating the start of the new season with Internet and communications provider PIPEX as Official Main Team Sponsor and exclusive broadband partner for the 2005/2006 and 2006/2007 Premiership seasons. The club officially welcomed PIPEX at its pre-season press conference, held today at Craven Cottage.
As the first commercial ISP and the fifth largest broadband provider in the UK, PIPEX joins one of the most prestigious names in football, Fulham FC, which was established in 1879. As well as running a Premier League mens team, the club is also home to Fulham Ladies one of the countrys most successful ladies teams.
PIPEX will use the opportunity to develop new applications for its Internet based technologies to fans of both the mens and ladies teams and raise awareness of its services to the wider football community. The PIPEX name is emblazoned on the famous black and white team strip, which is now also available to fans from the Fulham shop.
Mike Read, CEO of PIPEX Internet says, "For PIPEX, this is much more than just a shirt sponsorship deal, but provides the opportunity to bring PIPEX cutting edge Internet and communications technologies to the footballing world. What appealed to PIPEX was that Fulham is first and foremost a family football club, which is in line with our core values of creating secure, high quality Internet and communications services for our customers."
We note the "fifth largest broadband provider in the UK claim, which is a bit unusual because six other providers have more hi-speed subscribers to their name than Pipex.
