Apple has released the first BETA of its Safari 3 website browsing software for the PC, which had previously only been available to MAC users. It enters a market already dominated by several established players (IE7, Firefox and Opera) and offers little we haven't seen before.
Interestingly one key selling point is that Safari claims to offer a faster browsing experience:
The fastest web browser on any platform, Safari loads pages up to 2 times faster than Internet Explorer 7 and up to 1.6 times faster than Firefox 2.
And it executes JavaScript up to 2.8 times faster than Internet Explorer 7 and up to 1.6 times faster than Firefox 2.
Typically we've yet to test this out on a previously unvisited (un-cached) page, though it would be interesting to see whether Apples own statistics hold up to scrutiny.
