Three (3), the 3G mobile phone operator, has confirmed earlier reports (
here) that it is to drop the price of its mobile broadband packages by a significant degree.
The initial prices from would appear to have been correct, starting at just £10 per month for a 1GB usage allowance, £15 for 3GB and £25 for 7GB. Three intends to formally introduce the packages on 3rd September 2007.
Unfortunately the rollout is more restrictive, limiting access to anybody that doesn't live in Northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Some parts of London will also be covered (50% UK coverage). Thankfully 3 hope to have 85% coverage by the end of this year.
There will also be a choice of contracts from 12 to 18 months or up to two years in length. For laptop users a USB adaptor may be needed, which will cost £99 on shorter contracts and be free on the longest one.
Finally the speeds will be pushed beyond that of existing products yet again, reaching up to 2.8Mbps in best case scenarios.
