UK-Bug reports that BT Wholesale is to upgrade the options offered to ISP's on its broadband ADSL network with several new features during 2005, including a speed control facility:
The option from BTWholesale to ISPs will be available for the duration of the network upgrade, planned to begin on the 23rd February and last until 31st July 2005.
The BT Datastream's equivocally similar End User Speed Upgrade Facility is expected to be available from 1st May 2005 until 31st August 2005.
Another of the more interesting facilities that will be made available to ISPs is "End User Speed Control", which permits an IPS to directly change the downstream speed of their end users access. This will be in steps between the ranges of 64 Kbit/s to 2Mbit/s, dependent on the maximum speed of BT IPstream product operating on the telephone line (500, 1Mbit or 2Mbit).
