UK ISP V Two One (
V21) is on the hunt for a strategic partner to help its in-development anti-rogue dialler software come to market:
Top UK Internet Service Provider (ISP), V Two One, is on the hunt for a strategic partner to help bring a piece of software in the final stages of development to market. The innovative software cracks down on premium rate dialler scammers by alerting users that a dialler is on their system before dialling up to the Internet.
The premium rate dialler detection software is in its final development stage and V Two One would like to hear from any ISPs, BT and/or ICSTIS the Independent Committee for the Supervision of Standards of Telephone Information Services who would like to get involved in product testing and getting the software to market.
ICSTIS has recently received 45,000 complaints from angry consumers who have fallen prey to the premium rate diallers. A dialler is a small piece of software that can be installed on to a users machine. The dialler then disconnects the user from their normal Internet connection and then diverts them to an alternative connection, charging the customer for a premium rate call for the time they spend surfing the Internet. This means some customers incur huge phone bills, unaware of the cost until the phone bill arrives.
V Two Ones innovative dialler detection software alerts the user when a dialler is on their system. Displayed on screen as a pop up box, the software asks users whether they would like to continue dialling up to their ISP or use the alternative dial-up number.
At this point the owner of the computer can take action to remove the dialler from their system, saving them a huge phone bill.
