Sarcasm aside, a survey from WWW guru Jakob Nielsen has found that 94% of surfers reacted negatively to pop-up ads:
More than 90 per cent hated ads that did not have a close button, those which covered what the user was trying to view, those which did not specify what they were for and those which moved content around.
Not surprisingly, users have started to defend themselves against ads with the percentage who reported that they were using blocking software increasing from 26 per cent in April 2003 to 69 percent in September.
Surely they can't last much longer? Many of the mainstream browsers, including MS IE, now block them by default. More @ The Inquirer.
