Dial-up may be slowly dieing out, but it's still an important part of many ISP's. BT has highlighted this today by adopting the well known OnSpeed dial-up accelerator software:
BT has linked up with internet company OnSpeed to offer a software download that uses compression technology to boost your existing connection speed by up to five times.
According to BT, the software is ideal for those customers who feel they are not ready for broadband but don't want to miss out "on all that the web has to offer". BT Yahoo Anytime customers can download the software for free, but BT Yahoo Pay As You Go customers will need to pay £24.99 per year.Typically such software won't improve the download speed on compressed information, but it will improve the loading time for websites and e-mails.
