ISP UK Online has today launched an impressive new 8Mbps (400Kbps upstream) broadband ADSL service for just £39.99 per month (33:1 contention)! The product is based off Easynet's local loop (LLU) platform, which itself offers a 'bonded' 8Mbps solution:
The service includes WiFi as standard and users can therefore connect multiple PCs, laptops and game consoles anywhere within the home. The high speed enables home users to download MP3s within seconds, on line gaming can move up a gear, and streamed videos start to look like real TV for the first time.
On the same infrastructure, UK Online is looking to add voice, TV and Video on Demand during 2005.
The UK has lagged behind countries such as France, South Korea and the USA where fast services of 6Mb or over have been available for some time. With this launch, UK Online puts Britain firmly at the forefront of the digital revolution.
Customers interested in UK Onlines Broadband can check availability, register their interest or place an order at http://www.ukonline.netSadly there are some limits, coverage being the most obvious, although that's being expanded. Subscribers will also need to be no more than 2KM from their exchange.
The final catch is that of its usage limit, although this sits at a respectable 4GB per day.
