The Radicati group reports that 2004 saw e-mail traffic increase by 35% last year to 76.8bn mails per day. Corporate traffic accounted for 83% of this, while the global number of e-mail users grew by 15% to 651m.
The group expects ISP/Webmail accounts to reach 973 million mailboxes in 2008, up from 690 million in 2004.
Consumer ISPs currently serve around 135m customers throughout Europe. By 2008 the total European install base should have increased to 193m accounts, representing an average yearly growth rate of 9.4%.
