O2 has announced new price reductions for UK customers who use their mobile phones in EU countries. Using 1MB of data will now cost £3, a saving of 80% for prepay customers and 57% for postpay customers versus previous charges.
Two new data bundles have also been introduced for postpay consumers which can further reduce the cost to £1 per MB. These bundles are £20 for 10MB of data or £50 for 50MB of data.
Sadly it may be sometime before roaming data rates around Europe are practically able to match the far cheaper ones charged for local 'Mobile Broadband' (3G) services, where just a few pounds can get you several GigaBytes.
