The latest statistics from retail researchers at
Gfk have revealed that 8,000
Mobile Broadband USB Modems (Dongles) are being sold each week in the UK. This compares with sales of 1,000 per week, which was recorded half a year ago.
However, contract based
Mobile Broadband packages continue to dominate the market with a staggering 22,000 USB Modem sales. Fierce price competition and the resulting attractiveness of having an affordable high-speed mobile Internet connection are thought to be fuelling its growth.
Mobile Broadband customers can now expect to pay as little as £49.99 for a USB Modem and £10 for 1GB of monthly data allowance from mobile operator 3 (Three).
