NewMediaAge reports that Phorm (
BT Webwise), the controversial system that works with ISPs to monitor what websites you visit for use in targeted advertising campaigns, is mooting special incentives (e.g. discount to monthly broadband bills) to encourage UK ISP customers to join its service.
However this news is nothing new and first surfaced in September last year (
original news) when Phorm was spotted running an online survey asking a similar question. We've pasted the original poll options below:
* An upgrade to a faster broadband package at no extra cost
* £1 off monthly broadband bills
* £1 cashback per month
* A cut of advertising revenues
* A free premium technical support line
* Free music download vouchers
* Free anti-virus software
* Parental content controls
Naturally the most crucial option - '
I don't want Phorm', was notable by its absence.
