Independent testing house P3 Solutions has named
T-Mobile as the fastest UK provider of
Mobile Broadband services. The tests were carried out over peak usage hours in 16 UK cities during the final quarter of 2008.
The operator managed to be 35% faster than its nearest competitor for web-browsing and a whopping 59% quicker when it came to data uploads. Sadly
T-Mobile does not name its competitors in the benchmarks, perhaps fearful of the data being challenged:
Emin Gurdenli, Chief Technology Officer,
T-Mobile UK, commented:
To be ranked No1 for two consecutive quarters since testing began in April last year is a significant achievement. Our consistently high performance is testament to the fact that we continually test and improve our network to make sure our customers are getting the best possible mobile broadband experience. As the number of customers opting for the flexibility and convenience of mobile broadband continues to rise quarter on quarter, we will continue to expand on the potential of mobile broadband, through improved performance and our innovative range of tariffs and laptop bundles.
T-Mobiles service was also rated the best for sending and receiving e-mails with attachments, which allegedly turned out to be five times faster than all other operators for sending e-mails and twice as fast for e-mail reception.
Network performance was measured against everyday applications such as browsing the most visited web sites; streaming video; downloading a 3MB music file; uploading a 1MB file and email performance with a 500KB attachment.
It's claimed that since testing began
T-Mobile has achieved a 12% improvement in web browsing reliability and download speeds have increased by over 40%. However they didnt fair quite so well in terms of downloading, coming 2nd fiddle to.. well we dont know who because they dont say.
