The latest anecdotal broadband speed tests from comparison site
Moneysupermarket claim that Britain's average broadband speed is just 3.04Mbps. The results were found by conducting 67,587 tests with most of the countrys major ISPs between October and December.
Sadly Moneysupermarket does not reveal how each of the providers faired individually, preferring instead to post a limited top 3 based on customers with 'up to' 8Mbps broadband packages:
- O2 (Be Broadband) 4.16Mbps
- Sky Broadband 3.54Mbps
- Talk Talk 2.92Mbps
It's interesting to compare this with
Ofcom's recently published independent broadband ISP speed testing results (
here), which revealed a slightly higher figure of 3.6Mbps. Other speed testing sites have also reported similar figures around the 3.667Mbps area (
here).
