The latest February 2009 website browser statistics from
Net Applications and
Secunia have revealed that while Apple's Safari may be gaining market share from Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE), Firefox was the most bug ridden:
Browser Market Share (Feb 09)Microsoft Internet Explorer 67.44%
Firefox - 21.77%
Safari - 8.02%
Chrome - 1.15%
Opera - 0.71%
Netscape - 0.66%
Mozilla - 0.07%
Opera Mini - 0.07%
Playstation - 0.04%
Blazer - 0.02%
Elsewhere Firefox reported 115 flaws last year, which compares with Safari's 32, IE's 31 and Opera's 30. However Firefox took 43 days to fix three of its flaws, which compares with 110 days for just two of Microsoft's most serious IE vulnerabilities.
