Gamers playing on Nintendo's Wii games console will soon be able to buy yet another new add-on, a wireless broadband router - "
Nintendo WiFi Network Adapter". The move is a curious one because the Wii already has wireless capability built in.
It's understood that the new router device, which can also be used with Nintendo's DS handheld console and PC's, has been released to improve the Wii's weak wireless coverage and aid its integration with home networks:
The Nintendo WiFi Network Adaptor has a switch for three modes on the back: "
Router", "
Bridge" and "
Auto". "
Router" is self-explanatory, while "
Bridge" connects to another router and then communicates with the Nintendo DS and Wii. "
Auto" apparently can automatically switch the household's network over automatically.
