FREEDOM4 has launched a new 'Mobile Broadband 1000' service, which combines a wireless connection with special software to select the highest quality 3G Mobile Broadband or Wi-Fi connection at any given location.

The service itself, which includes a plug-in dongle (USB Modem), costs from £25 per month and comes with either a 1GB data usage allowance or 1,000 Wi-Fi minutes:


The provider has also expanded its UK Wi-Fi network thanks to new roaming partnerships with Spectrum Interactive plc and Briteyellow, taking the total number of hotspots in the UK to over 4,000 and to 50,000 globally.

FREEDOM4 claims that recent tests conducted with over 600 connections showed download speeds peaking at 17Mbps and averaging 2.8Mbps. Typically Mobile Broadband connections are usually at the slower end. The ISP hopes to cover 99% of the UK population with its combined approach.
