Be Broadband (
O2) has partnered with
Near to beta test Near's new software platform,
Near London, with Bes subscriber base. Near uses the very latest computer graphics technology to recreate London in astonishing detail. It provides businesses with a platform for their own 3D channels: a living, breathing model of the city which they can make their own.
It is intended that selected Be subscribers will get exclusive first access to the Near London application, working with the Near team to provide feedback on the features to be included in the final product.
Near will also develop and distribute a branded content channel within Near London that promotes Bes broadband services and allows beta testers to play a multi-player mini-game based on Bes successful
Broadband Heaven campaign:
Felix Geyr, Managing Director at Be commented:
Be Broadband is always looking to offer its customers unique value; above and beyond our industry-leading broadband products. Exclusive access to high quality, next-generation consumer technology is exactly the kind of thing that many of our customers enjoy, and the proposed multi-player mini-game will be a fun challenge for all the gamers in our base.
Many of our customers are IT experts so Be is uniquely placed among UK ISPs to offer real value back to pioneering companies such as Near through beta testing. We look forward to working closely with Near over the coming months in what we are sure will be an exciting and mutually beneficial partnership.
Near will be launching the finished software to the public in Q3 2009 in coordination with the 300th Anniversary of Londons historic West End. It's an interesting idea, although the online world of Second Life probably does it better.
