PlusNet has reported a spike in broadband network traffic during election night in the USA. Roughly 500 of their customers stayed up to await the result, increasing BBC iPlayer (IPTV) traffic from an average of 50Mbps (2am) to 250Mbps.
Even at 5am it was still doing 150Mbps when normally it would be nearer 25Mbps. Note: streaming content from the BBC news website was being picked up as iPlayer as well:
