Easynet's Global Services division has launched a new derivative of its EtherStream service, which delivers Ethernet style broadband over existing copper wire based telecommunications infrastructure. The new standard will provide trial customers with symmetrical (same speed both ways), un-contended speeds of 'up to' 40Mbps:

In the UK, it is available at all of Easynet's 1200 unbundled (
LLU) exchanges, reaching 70% of the UK's businesses. No pricing details have been released.
