BTWholesale has revealed that the sheer number of local telephone exchanges being enabled with broadband ADSL each month has caused a small delay backlog.
The
UK-Bug item reports that 31 exchanges have so far been delayed (some may now be upgraded), while BT itself is completing roughly 70 each week:
As BT have put it, "Despite careful planning, this has placed a strain on resources across the cabling and exchange enablement programme, particularly in Scotland".The delays themselves are generally not too serious, being around the 10 (give or take) day mark.
