Having recently acquired the troubled broadband xDSL ISP -
Bulldog, Cable & Wireless (C&W) is now looking towards the future and a £100m investment in developing ultra-fast broadband services:
Unlike broadband competitors such as AOL and Wanadoo, Cable & Wireless plans to target heavy users small and medium-sized companies, plus consumers who want connections capable of carrying television down telephone lines.
Cable & Wireless plans to take advantage of regulatory changes, announced earlier this year, that make it easier for companies to take control of BT phone lines [LLU] between a customers home or office, and the telephone exchange.
Cable & Wireless is targetting 400 of BTs busiest exchanges, covering major urban centres across the country, over the next 18 months. The service will be available from the companys recently acquired Bulldog subsidiary. Some months ago we ran an article on the '
Future of Broadband', which included information about
Bulldog's ADSL2/2+ plans for the end of 2004. Hopefully C&W's investment will have this technology in mind as well. More @
