Zen Internet has managed to place 7th in Deloittes seventh annual ranking of the Northern fastest growing technology companies:
Deloitte created the Technology Fast 50 to support UK technology companies and champion innovation in the sector. The programme tracks the growth rates of technology companies in seven regions in the UK and Ireland, culminating in a European Fast 500 ranking in December 2004.
The Technology Fast 50 programme aims to find those companies that have shown impressive growth rates in the telecommunications, hardware, software and biotechnology markets over the last five financial years. All companies considered for an award are headquartered in the North of England, are technology-intensive, use unique technology in problem-solving, or devote a high percentage of effort to research and development.
Damian Sanders, technology partner for the Northern Fast 50, said: "The standard of entrants was once again very high, further confirming the resilience being shown by the regional technology sector."
The awards are part of a national campaign by professional services firm Deloitte designed to recognise, reward and raise the profile of the fastest-growing technology companies in seven regions across the UK and Ireland - including London and the South East, Eastern, Midlands, the South West, Ireland and Scotland as well as the North.
Nationally, the awards are sponsored by the London Stock Exchange and Intellect. Locally, the programme is sponsored by Evolution Recruitment Solutions, who specialise in all aspects of IT recruitment throughout the UK.
Richard Tang, managing director of Zen Internet, said: "Our ranking this year of 7th is based on our growth over the last five years, of 740%. The Top 50 placing recognises all the hard work that our staff put in consistently, year on year." The ranking comes after a year of award success for Zen Internet. In June, Richard Tang was named Business Person of the Year at the North Manchester Business Awards for Excellence and Achievement. The company was also recognised as a finalist in the Company of the Year Awards. In July, Zen was awarded the Growth Strategy of the Year Award at The National Business Awards (Regional Final) and was a finalist in the Small and Medium Sized Business Award category.
