UK ISP Boltblue has conducted some new research into the use of broadband Internet access services and finds that it does indeed change lives:
Almost 16% of people said they were spending more time working from home since signing up for a high-speed internet connection.
According to the study a third of net users now make more use of chat rooms and instant messaging, while over 20% spend more time downloading music and movies
The study also suggests that dial-up internet users wait up to 30 minutes a day to download files and send and receive emails - that adds up to 130 hours per year. While the research may be more of a marketing gimmick for Boltblue's own broadband ADSL services, its still extremely interesting to see how much of a social impact faster surfing can have.
