BTOpenworld has announced further details of the Celebrity Soccer Six 2003 charity event, which is due to take place this bank holiday weekend and is backed by BTs broadband:

Pop sensation Blue is aiming to take Newcastle by storm when they play at The Music Industry Soccer Six at St James Park on Bank Holiday Monday, May 5 2003. Hoping to match the success of their pop career by claiming the number one spot at Soccer Six and with ex Manchester United player Mickey Thomas signed to their team they look like strong contenders.
Over 160 celebrities will take part at the event, consisting of 12 mens and 4 womens teams. For the second year in succession Soccer Six is brought to you in association with Broadband From BT.
Other celebrities playing include; Liberty X, Blazin' Squad, One True Voice, Harvey, Romeo, Michael Greco, Gary Lucy and Phixx alongside TV stars from Hollyoaks, Brookside and Holby City. To really put the celebrities to the test ex pro-footballers including Peter Beardsley, Chris Waddle, Frank McAvennie and John Barnes will also be playing.
This is the first year that Soccer Six has been held in Newcastle and we've teamed up with Radio Metro to bring you all the latest news and gossip on Soccer Six in the Newcastle area. As in previous years Soccer Six will also take place at Anfield, Liverpool on Saturday May 10 and new for 2003 Upton Park, West Ham, London on Sunday May 18.
