BTOpenworld has, apparently, been shipping an unreliable '
Efficient Networks 5861' router with its business ADSL services for sometime now. It's unreliable because the capacitors have an unwelcome tendency to leak:
But this router or some iterations of this router, are also suffering from the leaky caps phemomenon and the [BTOpenworld] user group told BT about it months ago, he said.
There's one example of leaky capacitors in this router over at this page, and a subscriber has a "workaround" he used to get the 5861 going again.It's not yet clear how widespread this issue is, although it probably only affects a small number of subscribers, otherwise we'd have heard about it sooner.
