The Mobile Data Association (MDA) reports that the total WAP website pageviews for March 2003 in the UK hit 560 Million, an increase of 16% over February:
Marchs figure takes the daily average to 18m, compared to 11m in September 2002, when the issuing of WAP page impression figures by the MDA began.
Marchs figure shows an ever-increasing interest in WAP-based services. Customers have shown particular interest in seasonal WAP services relating to Mothers Day, St Patricks Day, as well as football services. Popular sites continue to be those offering ringtones, screensavers, downloads and games.
Marchs figure does however show that sites offering horoscopes, live sports results and Time Out(entertainment listings) information are increasing in popularity. In the UK today there are currently over 25m mobile internet-enabled handsets. The
Europemedia item reports that the MDA predicts continued growth, reaching 8 Billion impressions for 2003.
