Pre-Paid 'M.I.P Cards' ISP Launches

Posted: 13th May, 2003 By: MarkJ
The pre-paid unmetered dialup offering UK ISP, Myinternetpass (aka - M.I.P Cards), has already been around for several months. Despite this the service has finally issued a press release announcing its official launch:

Home Internet costs slashed by 50%

UK households can now get online for at least 50% less, with Myinternetpass, a new way to connect to the Internet.

The Myinternetpass pre-paid Internet access card works like a pre-paid phone card and costs £10. It offers two options for surfing the net: 30 days of unmetered access for heavy users, or 2000 minutes for lighter users, valid over a 3 month period.

At 1/2p per minute, Myinternetpass offers the best value 24/7 metered access of any Internet Service Provider. It’s also at least half as expensive as the lowest pay-as-you-go rates offered by the UK's top six ISPs; AOL, Freeserve, BT Openworld, Tiscali, Virgin.net and ntl.

Myinternetpass is available from retailers nationwide (including Balfour Convenience Stores) and can also be bought as a ‘virtual card’ over the Internet at www.myinternetpass.com, with access details supplied by email. The benefits, aside from the cost, include:

* No contract, or cancellation period
* No additional call charges on phone bills, or other hidden costs
* No software to load: just type a freephone number, user name and password into any home computer’s built-in Internet connection software
* The flexibility to change between tariffs
* Portability: A user can enter details onto any PC in the UK
* Multiple cards can be used on a single computer in shared accommodation
* No credit history or personal information required

Phillip Glyn, managing director at Myinternetpass, said: “If the USA is anything to go by, pre-paid Internet access will see huge take-up over here, in the same way that pre-paid mobile phone vouchers rocketed. Even if you’ve never used the Internet before, the benefits of Myinternetpass are obvious – it’s simple to use, there is no need to sign any contract and it offers the best value-for-money web access in the UK.”

Myinternetpass offers customers e-mail, web site and call centre technical support. It will also shortly be introducing a prepaid broadband card to cater for the growing number of people switching to an ‘always on’ connection.
