New research from MSN has found that two thirds (68%) of Britains fail to protect their PC against Internet threats (e-mail viruses etc.). Typically such a lack of security can ultimately affect us all:
The MSN Premium Protection League, which studies attitudes towards protection and security, claims that the average Brit will spend approximately £760 a year on insurance but only 28 per cent will spend over £50 to protect their PCs.
This is despite a massive 87 per cent of people admitting they worry about how to protect their PC and 80 per cent expressing concerns about their personal information being stolen by a hacker.
According to MSNs Premium Protection League, one in ten PC users are confused by technical jargon, while nearly one in four admit to just being too lazy to protect their computer.Clearly people are aware of the security threat, which is an important start, yet the knowledge of how to solve it doesnt exist.
ISPs could do themselves a favour by helping to educate their customers in a clear and un-technical manor. There are some that try, yet for the best success that message must be got across at the signup stage and built on later. More @
