PlusNets 'Support Tools & Advice' Site

Posted: 19th Mar, 2004 By: MarkJ
UK ISP Plusnet has today announced its new 'Support Tools & Advice' website, which will offer both practical help (written by customers) and the very latest service status information:

A new PlusNet 'Support Tools and Advice' web site has been launched this week, offering lots of practical help and delivering the very latest service status information to the desktop. What makes this particularly unusual, however, is that it has been written entirely by a group of PlusNet customers, with the support of the popular ISP.

Located on the web at http://usertools.plus.net, the new website is available to all, complementing the official PlusNet support pages. It includes in its content a collection of some of the best customer-created tutorials and projects that have been produced by PlusNet's members, and provides some cutting edge support facilities, such as remote service status alerting.

PlusNet Customer Communications Co-ordinator, Ian Wild is excited about the project launch, "We have always had a dedicated group of users who spend a lot of their spare time helping others to get the most from our service. This project allows those users to collate this work and provides for a number of very useful tools, such as service status on your desktop and a handy exchange 'capacity checker', which can be used by any Broadband ADSL customer to see if BT are aware of any capacity problems on their exchange."

Usertools allows you to download software to your PC which, when connected to the Internet, will proactively alert you to any service status posting made by PlusNet. Additionally, the service status postings may be received via email to any chosen address.

Providing their customers with the means to create and supply technical help allows PlusNet to help reduce the time taken to implement new ideas and proposals raised by their customers. Repeatedly recognized in the Industry for their customer-focussed and self-help ethos, the new project further cements PlusNet's approach.

Alistair Wyse, Service and Operations Director at PlusNet said, "We're delighted to support this exciting initiative by our customers. Through the Usertools project we are providing another channel through which our customers have the means to help and support each other.”

Many of the tutorials and features will be of interest to customers who actively use the more advanced features that come as standard with PlusNet's subscription accounts, such as web design, domain hosting and CGI/PHP access. Broadband technology and support is also covered, PlusNet being one of the UK's foremost providers of high-speed Internet to UK Homes and Business.
